Regulated Agencies

Regulated agencies are required to ensure the following recurring safety courses are completed and reported for applicable personnel:

  • Courage to be Safe (CTBS) – So Everyone Goes Home (4 CE hours)
  • Federal Highway Administration Traffic Incident Management Program (TIMP) (4 CE hours)
  • Firefighter Cancer Support Network Cancer Awareness Training (CAT) (2 CE hours)

Departments are responsible for uploading and reporting safety course completions on behalf of their personnel through the Texas Commission's web-based reporting system.

Personnel who have not previously completed these courses must do so within one (1) year of their date of hire or appointment with a regulated agency. After the initial completion, each course must be renewed every five (5) years.

Departments may report course completions by entering records individually or by using the mass-entry option to report multiple personnel or an entire department at one time.

Regulated agencies have three (3) years from the adoption of the applicable standard to achieve compliance with the new recurring training requirements.

Individual Certificate Holders

Individual certificate holders who are not currently affiliated with a regulated agency are not required to complete these safety courses. Completion is optional.

Individuals who complete one or more approved safety courses may upload their course completion certificates through their FIDO account under the Professional Development tab. Submitted certificates will be reviewed by the Certification Division and either approved or denied..
