Traffic Safety Course Resources

Commission rule §435.29 - Federal Highway Administration Traffic Incident Management Program requires regulated entities to ensure that the FHA's Traffic Incident Management program, or an equivalent commission-approved course, is completed by certified fire protection personnel by Dec. 1, 2020. Individuals will be credited with four hours of continuing education credit for completing this program.

Completion of this training can be reported through your department's FIDO account. If your personnel have completed the training prior to the rule's effective date, you can report it as completed through your department's FIDO account.

Acceptable Classes Include:

A course taught by an instructor who attended the SHRP2 (Strategic Highway Research Program) National Traffic Incident Management Responder Train the Trainer course, with a certificate of completion issued by the FHWA.

A course taught by an instructor who attended the SHRP2 National Traffic Incident Management Responder Train the Trainer course, and registered the class with TEEX through the instructor package, with certificate of completion issued by TEEX.

Acceptable Traffic Safety Courses

This course should be taught by TEEX instructors, with a certificate of completion issued by TEEX.

Course taught by North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), with a certificate of completion issued by NCTCOG.

National Highway Institute (NHI) Course FHWA-NHI-133126, with a certificate of completion issued by NHI.

Course through the University of Texas Arlington, with a course completion issued by UT Arlington.

Through the Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool with a course completion certification issued by TMLIRP.

through the Fire Service Training Center of Tarrant County College, with a course completion Certificate issued by the Fire Service Training Center of Tarrant County College.
